My Summer List

Those who know me well know that I am a list maker.  To-do lists, need-to-buy lists, lists of goals...you name it, and I will make a list for it.

Now, I made a list of some goals back at the beginning of the year.  (I don't like to make "resolutions".  To me, they are too vague and unmeasurable.)  Unfortunately, I must have lost that list because none of those goals have been accomplished! ;)  So, I am now making a list of things that I would like to accomplish this summer (which starts in 19 school days, but who's counting?)  Hopefully, sharing them here will keep me accountable because, if there is one thing that I hate, it is admitting that I failed!

Here they are:
  • Finish redoing my house so we can move in.
  • Read at least one adult book (not THAT kind!  I mean a book written for people over the age of 18) and one book for work per week.
  • Try at least one new recipe per week.
  • Watch the first season of Justified.
  • Blog at least twice a week.
  • Participate in some form of exercise daily.
  • Improve my eating habits.
Hey, I didn't say that I was setting out to change the world, did I?  Just change my world...one to-do list at a time! :)

Feeling Crafty

So I was feeling a little crafty this weekend.  Now, as I mentioned in yesterday's post, I am a procrastinator.  This idea has been ruminating in my head for quite some time.  The materials have sat on my dining table for a couple of weeks.  Yesterday, I decided that I could spare the whole half hour that these treat/cake plates took to make!

Materials needed:

1 bowl
1 plate
E 6000 adhesive
Hot glue

I started with this:

First, I turned the bowls over, placed a glob of hot glue in the center, and lined the bottom rim with E 6000 adhesive.  Then, I turned the plate over and placed the bowl, adhesive side down, on the bottom of the plate.  Finally, I placed some heavy books on the bowl to weigh it down and let it set for 24 hours.  Viola!  I now have three very cute treat/cake plates!

These are so super easy! You could make these out of any kind of plates and bowls.  I think the summery patterned melamine plates would be really cute!   I can definitely see making these to take places as a hostess gift...possibly with a yummy treat on them!

I am linking up with Making the World Cuter for Making the World Cuter Monday.  Check it out...so many cute ideas over there!  Now if I can just figure out how to put a linky button on here...

Tomorrow...

Perhaps I was a bit hasty when I decided to start a blog at the end of the school year.  It is the time of year that teachers in Texas hit high gear with TAKS testing and preparations for the end of the school year, and, as a librarian, I help with testing, attend the Texas Library Association convention, conduct a library inventory, and take my Gifted and Talented students on a couple of field trips.  Throw in various school programs, events and field days, and you have a very busy time!  Not to mention that whole single-mom-of-a-ten-year-old-boy thing...

Now, being a librarian, I would like to say that I am very organized and have superb time management skills.  I would LIKE to say that, but it would be a bald-faced lie.  (Hello...my name is Angie...and I am a procrastinator.)  Yes, it's true.  I wait until the very. last. minute. to do almost everything!  I say that I work best under pressure...the truth is, that is the only time that I work!  Oh, I get everything done, and I do it well.  If I have two weeks to do something, though, I will wait until the day before the task needs to be done to tackle it.  That is why my blog has been neglected from the get-go.  There is no deadline.  Therefore, I have nothing to force me to write which means that the ideas that I have in my head never make it to my blog.

I have decided that I am going to turn over a new leaf.  Plan ahead.  Not wait until the last minute.  Organize my resources and thoughts better.  That's the ticket!

I'll start tomorrow... ;)
